Advances Made Against Alzheimer's Disease (HealthDay)

HealthDay - WEDNESDAY, July 30 (HealthDay News)-- New reports on verydifferent approaches to treating Alzheimer's disease could one day lead tobetter natural dmae-bitartrate for the mind-robbing condition, experts say.

Millions of times more powerful than Vitamin C or any exotic juice, glutathione is your body's own natural antioxidant. Each and every cell in your body produces it, from your brain cells, to the cells in your muscles and joints. As you get older, your body's level drops, resulting in, among other things, natural caffeine extract chronic pain, loss of memory, and fatigue. You don't heal as quickly and it takes more time to recover from exercise and other necessary stresses that you bring upon yourself. It's no secret. It happens to us all. The question is, "What can you do about it?"

Many have found positive results from exotic juices such as fermented noni. It is high in the antioxidants that many of us are missing. In fact, I have a good friend whose grandfather moved in with him, basically to die, because he was feeling so old and worn out. Things have changed since he started fermenting noni in his backyard and drinking it. He has come back to life and spends his day working in the garden and enjoying life. I too have found positive results from ingesting high antioxidant super-foods such as chocolate and acai berry.

We subscribe to these super-foods because we are able to digest them and absorb their antioxidants into our system. A similar effect is achieved when we eat balanced meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables. As we get older, we need more of these antioxidants to compensate for our bodies' natural reduction of glutathione at the cellular level. This is why you'll often find people like myself going from one super-food to the next trying to find the one that will have the greatest effect on my body, when in actuality, what I really need to do is find a way to raise the level of my body's own natural antioxidant.

How can you increase your glutathione level?

Your first thought might be, "That's easy. Just swallow a supplement." As easy as it sounds, this won't do much, if anything. Most of the glutathione you ingest would get destroyed in your stomach. Furthermore, the parts that make it into your blood stream would just float around in your blood doing nothing. It is too large to cross through the cell membrane, where it needs to be. It would be like trying to shove an orange through a keyhole, it just doesn't fit.

Glutathione has to be produced from within each cell. Certain foods such as broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, and cabbage have been thought to increase these levels. If this is indeed the case, it's because they provide certain nutrients that can be absorbed at the cellular level and trigger the cells to produce the antioxidant. The building blocks can penetrate the cell, but pre-fabricated glutathione cannot. Again, it needs to be produced from within the cell.

Introducing the right combination of the building blocks into the cells, where it can be produced is the key to raising you body's own natural antioxidant level. Some of these components include: L Glutamine, N-Acetyl Cystene, and Alpha Lipoic Acid. The right combination of these, and other antioxidants, has been shown to raise these levels in HIV and cancer patients. There are plenty of articles and medical journals that outline this research.

In conclusion, glutathione is your body's own natural antioxidant. It is that antioxidant that you and I are constantly trying to rebuild and replace. When you learn how to raise the level of your body's own natural antioxidant, it is like discovering the fountain of youth because every cell in your body will begin to function with renewed energy. The good foods that you eat can help to partially compensate for your decrease in glutathione, but nothing can replace your body's own natural antioxidant.
